Bashu Dhakal
Senior Trekking Guide
“I find my true self in the heart of the mountains, where silence speaks louder than words. With every breath of fresh mountain air, I feel alive, connected, and humbled by the magnificence of nature. Trekking isn’t just a job; it’s my soul’s journey, where every step tells a story of passion and purpose.” – Bashu Dhakal
About His Life
Bashu Dhakal was born in 2045 BS in Nilkantha Nagarpalika Dhading, Nepal. When he was young, Bashu strongly desired to trek as his family members were engaged in tourism. Having had this inspiration early in his life, he was bound to follow this path in the future.
At the age of 17, Bashu entered the trekking industry, and his initial role was a porter. He did this with commitment and felt the fruit of his labour when he landed a career as a licensed guide for 15 years.
Bashu frequently visits the Himalayas for trekking and has visited most of the renowned trails in Nepal. These include the Everest area, Manaslu, Tsum Valley, Helambu, Upper Mustang, and Annapurna.
Bashu loves to climb peaks, but unfortunately, he hasn’t had a chance to ‘defeat any peak‘. Nonetheless, his passion for trekking is still bright, and he thoroughly enjoys every related activity. He has a highly busy work timetable but at the same time takes his responsibilities as a husband, son and father very seriously; in this way, he is a good example of a person who can work and still be a good family man.
Bashu’s range is further than that of Nepalese. He has also travelled to several other South East Asian countries. Trekking in Nepal is still his most interesting and favourite occupation, without considering the variety of his interests and success.
Significantly, Bashu pursued Nepali literature as his field of specialization or major. He affirms that his career as a trekking guide brings him a lot of happiness.
That is why the Himalayan Masters benefited from Bashu’s presence. That is the spirit behind his story, which is not merely about trekking but about commitment, hard work, discipline, and achieving the goal.
