Rajendra Dhungana (Raj) - [Archived]
Senior Trekking Leader
“Life is a lot like trekking through the mountains. Each step tells a story, and every mountain is a challenge waiting to be conquered. But it’s not just about reaching the summit. It’s about the journey—the twists and turns, the ups and downs, the moments that take your breath away. The mountains have taught me that growth comes from facing challenges head-on and finding strength in every step forward.”- Rajendra Dhungana.
About His Life
Rajendra Dhungana was born in Nilkantha-12, Dhading, Nepal, in 1977. He has been trekking professionally since 2000 after becoming a trekking guide, and for him, trekking is life. He is entering his quarter-century in this industry. Soon he will be celebrating his Silver Jubilee as a trekking leader.
At the start, Rajendra is just a porter, but he has always been attached to the mountains. He then became a guide and it is the position he found that he loved most. He has always been a trekking lover and has done different treks like- the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra more than twenty-five times.
Rajendra knows some of the major trekking routes in Nepal. Like Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Annapurna, Rowaling, Langtang Valley, Rubi Valley, Manaslu Tsum Valley, Upper Mustang, Lower Dolpo, Shey Phoksundo, Limi valley – Humla, Helambu, Everest three passes etc. He has also climbed the Yala Peak as a passion for climbing.
Like most guiding professions, Rajendra’s career started during his school years. He found inspiration in his teacher, who was enthusiastic about the nature of Nepal while speaking English. Hence, Rajendra wanted to be like him, proficient in the English language, and educate people about Nepal’s picturesque beauty.
In addition to Nepal, Rajendra travelled to India, China, and Tibet, where he became somewhat familiar with the cultures and geographical structures since he speaks Nepali, Hindi, and English.
Today, Rajendra is a well-respected Senior trekking leader and consultant with the Himalayan Masters. Himalayan Masters feel very overwhelmed with his support and love in the team.
